I have a few minutes to waste on a free internet terminal, here in Nha Trang, Vietnam... so hello there DeviantArt!

I've got no major stories to impart upon you at this stage - a few minor discrepancies; a bus breakdown, a rearrangement of plans - but otherwise all is going quite smoothly. The good news is that this place is a lot of fun and I've managed to get a few decent photos along the way, although not as many as I would have hoped. Such is the difficulty of travelling at a quick pace.

On an entirely different note, I'm going to take a moment to offer a minor whinge while I remember. I logged in just now to discover one of my photos - specifically that of the Eiffel Tower at night - had been deleted by official Deviant Art type people.

Now, as I understand it, images of the Eiffel Tower at night are copyrighted by someone or other, and so I shan't complain about the deletion, or the member of staff who went about that sorry business. Perfectly understandable.

However, I do want to let my thoughts be known.

a) who is so tediously nitpicky as to actually report such a photo? I mean, are there really folk who trawl through this site so that they can find images that impinge on some regulation or other, just with the purpose of having them removed? And if so, is this some kind of ego inflating achievement?

b) how is it possible that the image of something can be claimed by copyright? I mean, I can understand that a photo, or an artwork, or anything like that is a work of intellectual property. But how can an image of such a creation also be protected? Seems like madness to me, but then again, I haven't got a legally technical mind.
